Smile
by Raina Telgemeier

Genre: Nonfiction Graphic Novel
Where can someone find this book? Winship School Library

What is the main idea?
Smile is about two sisters named Raina and Amara. Raina fell on her two front teeth because she was racing with her friend to Raina's door step. Raina slipped and fell and they fell out. Everyone was scared for her when they saw her with no two front teeth. She goes through a hard time with an orthodontist and her two front teeth. One thing that happened with her teeth is when she had surgery to push her teeth down and it did not fully work.
What did you like about this book?
I liked how this nonfiction wasn't cliche. I had the same feeling when I went to the orthodontist.

The One and Only Ivan

The One and Only Ivan
by Katherine Applegate

Genre: Biographical Fiction
Where can someone find this book? Boston Public Library

What is the main idea?
Ivan and Stella are circus animals at Exit 8, the Big Top Mall.

What did you like about this book?
The One and Only Ivan is about a gorilla named Ivan. Ivan is not alone. He has his best friend Stella the elephant. Ivan also has a friend dog named Bob. Ivan lives at Exit 8. What I don’t like about the story is the workers that work at the circus keep Ivan in a cage. They have his face on the sign at the big top mall exit 8. On the sign, he’s angry. He’s really not angry, he’s sweet and innocent.

Adelia recommends this book because it is very interesting and it is also a true story. Ivan is a real gorilla.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever
by Jeff Kinney

Genre: Humor
Where can you find this book? Winship School Library

What is the main idea?
The main idea is how everything went wrong for Greg. He had lots of bad luck. An example of something that went wrong was that Rowley found a girlfriend and he just never talked to Greg again and Greg had no friends. His enemy, which was one of his relatives, came to visit and he was aggravated. Then the mingos ran after him. If you want to find out who the mingos are, you should read this book.

What did you like about this book?
I liked this book because Greg had lots of bad luck and I felt bad for him but he never gave up. An example of how Greg didn't give up is when Rowley got a girlfriend and left Greg alone, but Greg made new friends. An example of how I felt bad for Greg is when Rowley left him alone and Greg was sad but he said "instead of being sad I will just make new friends." And that is why I enjoyed reading this book!
